Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (ECGT) Directive
On September 27, 2026, the Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition directive (designed to eliminate greenwashing) will begin to apply across the European Union.
Under this new directive, businesses can’t keep framing their sustainability efforts vaguely or without verified information. Broad statements about being green or sustainable won’t stand on their own anymore, and neither will neutrality claims built on offsetting.
But here’s the twist: what still works is real, specific impact, like an action, a named partner, a date, a record. That’s exactly what Dots.eco has done since day one.
Dots.eco’s infrastructure enables businesses to create real environmental impact, funded by a company, delivered by a vetted impact partner, tracked and timestamped.
Every contribution comes with a certificate that includes the project, the partner, and the data, ensuring impact is specific, accountable, and backed by evidence rather than estimates.

ECGT and green claims compliance FAQs
What are the fundamental requirements for ECGT compliance?
Environmental claims have to be specific and substantiated. Broad claims about being green or sustainable aren’t enough on their own; neutrality claims based on offsetting outside your value chain aren’t permitted; and sustainability labels must come from a real certification scheme or a public authority. The directive applies from 27 September 2026.
What does green claims compliance actually involve?
Green claims compliance comes down to substantiation: every environmental claim needs a specific action behind it, a source you can name, and a record you can produce. In practice, that means auditing the claims you already make, retiring the ones you can’t evidence, and rebuilding the rest around verifiable actions. The hard part usually isn’t the wording; it’s having data underneath it in the first place.
How can I make sure my green claims hold up?
Start from evidence rather than adjectives. Every claim should trace to a specific action, a named partner, a date, and a record you can produce if someone asks. If a claim can’t survive that test, rebuild it around one that can.
How does Dots.eco fit within ECGT regulatory management?
We supply the evidence layer. Dots.eco records what was funded, through which vetted partner, and when the specific, verifiable data that substantiated claims are built from. We’re not a compliance service, and we don’t assess or certify your marketing. We make sure there’s something real underneath it.
Who does Dots.eco work with?
Dots.eco works with brands in the gaming, loyalty, e-commerce, cosmetics, and travel industries. Some brands we’ve collaborated with include Tripadvisor, Xsolla, Brightdata, and Kaltura.
If your customers do something worth rewarding, there’s usually a fit.
What are the common challenges in achieving ECGT compliance?
Usually the evidence trail, not the intent. Most teams have made genuine investments but can’t produce a specific, dated, verifiable record behind any single claim.
How hard is Dots.eco to integrate?
We have an API and a set of existing integrations, so most teams connect Dots.eco to what they already run rather than building something new. Check the full Dots.eco documentation.
