World Wildlife Day
March 3, 2024

World Wildlife Day is an annual event observed on March 3rd each year to celebrate and raise awareness about the world’s wild animals and plants. This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013 to commemorate the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) on March 3, 1973. CITES is an international agreement aimed at ensuring that international trade in wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.
World Wildlife Day serves as a reminder that it is our collective responsibility to protect and preserve the Earth’s rich biodiversity for current and future generations. It calls for action to combat the threats facing wildlife and to promote sustainable coexistence with the natural world.
