Why is protecting sea turtles important?
Sea turtles are known for being a “keystone species,” meaning they play an essential role in the global ecosystem. Turtles are a vital part of the marine food chain, which means that instability for them equals instability for the whole ecosystem. They are also one of the most ancient creatures on Earth. Preserving them has environmental, cultural, spiritual, and historical value.
How does sea turtle protection work?
Our partners are working in more than 15 countries and on approximately 40 beaches. Funding goes to projects for protecting nesting beaches, removing plastic from turtle habitats, and educating the public about this key species.
The impact of our projects occurs all year round. However, in Central America, our partners can impact the most from March until June due to the pattern of sea turtle migration.

How do you monitor the sea turtle hatchling conservation?
We partner with reputable conservation organizations like SEE Turtles, Karumbe, and Paso Pacifico, who have a track record of high impact and successful outcomes. These organizations use reliable metrics such as the number of turtle hatchlings saved, survival rates of hatchlings, and the number of nests protected to track their conservation efforts. You can also check your eco-impact via your certificate and find out where your specific impact is being made!
