From September 16 to 24, Klondike Adventures partnered with Dots.eco on an eco-rewards event that let players interact with red pandas in the game and complete in-game stages. The activation helped protect red panda habitat while boosting key KPIs such as average sessions per user, game time, and retention.

“Partnering with Dots.eco has not only helped us engage players in meaningful ways but also significantly boosted our KPIs during the campaign. This collaboration highlights the power of eco-rewards as a valuable tool for business, driving both player satisfaction and environmental impact.”
This case study is part of our deeper analysis on how impact improves game retention across D1, D7, and D30.
Activity potential
The Klondike Adventure team aimed to introduce a new type of event featuring the protection of red panda habitat. This initiative encouraged players to step out of their game routine and contribute to a specific environmental effort, fostering a sense of responsibility and commitment within the players.

A New Dimension of Eco-Impact
In Klondike’s latest event, players had the opportunity to make a real-world impact by protecting endangered red pandas. The event encouraged players to complete in-game tasks and collect special red panda-related items, which contributed to a global goal of saving 200,000 square feet of red panda habitat in Nepal. By completing the community challenge, players unlocked rewards while contributing to the restoration of the red panda’s natural environment.
As players progressed through the event, each action contributed to the collective goal, raising awareness about deforestation and habitat loss for these endangered animals. The community came together, not only achieving in-game rewards but also making a tangible impact in preserving red panda habitats.

Success Metrics
In-Game KPIs:
- During the event, there was an uptick of ~3-5% in avg. sessions per user (SPU)
- Avg gametime in comparison with previous events grew by 16%
- Over 96% of players who participated in the event logged in daily for a week to feed the panda.
Community
- The Klondike Adventures team received extremely positive feedback from their community on Facebook regarding the event, indicating reputational benefits. The community actively shared photos of their contributions to nature, showing how we motivated players to get involved.
By leveraging Dots.eco, Klondike Adventures seamlessly created a unique and engaging experience in their game. This addition encouraged players to break from their usual gameplay routines and allowed them to impact the environment positively. This strategy resulted in improved in-game KPIs, creating a win-win situation for both players and the environment.
